My volunteering and leadership roles, commitment to academic excellence, and community service at the University of Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada.
From 2022 to 2024, I have actively engaged as an Independent Representative at the Graduate Students’ Association (GSA), participating in student mobilization and governance. I served two terms on the GSA Award Committee and represented graduate students on key university committees, including the Environmental Sustainability Advisory Committee and the Health and Safety Advisory Committee. Through these roles, I have contributed to shaping policies that directly impact students.
In February 2023, during the Dean of Faculty of Health Sciences Search, I served as a student representative, ensuring that the interests of graduate students were well-articulated throughout the selection process. My commitment to fostering an inclusive academic environment is also reflected in my volunteer tutoring with the English Language Partner Program from 2021 to 2022, where I provided peer and language support to international students.
As a mentor in the International Student Mentorship Program, I assisted new international students in acclimating to university life during the Fall 2023 semester. Additionally, I played a pivotal role in organizing the CHRISA unconference in 2023, handling various logistical tasks such as setup, attendee registration, and real-time troubleshooting to ensure a seamless event.
Currently, as the Vice President of the University of Lethbridge Academically Employed Graduate Students’ Union, I advocate for graduate students’ rights and welfare. My engagement in the Faculty of Health Sciences Graduate Students Thesis Club has allowed me to support peers in their academic journeys. Furthermore, I have provided informal advanced statistics tutorials to new graduate students in my programme and have inspired colleagues to co-author research papers published in high-impact international journals.
These diverse experiences have enriched my university life and strengthened my leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills. They highlight my commitment to enhancing the student experience and fostering an inclusive academic community. I remain dedicated to continuing my service and leadership roles, striving to create a supportive environment for all students at the University of Lethbridge.
